Best Places To Take The Ladies Shopping On a Hen Weekend In Birmingham

The Midland city of Birmingham is a real shopper’s paradise and a trip around the shops together is the perfect way of passing some time during the day on a hen weekend. Birmingham has six main shopping areas or centres, with a range of independant retailer, high street brands and designer labels as well as some of the best known department stores. A day out hitting the stores with the girls could be a tiring and stressful day if you don’t know what and where the best shopping areas are. No problem though, this blog should help you get around them all. 


Birmingham has six Main Shopping areas these are The Bullring, Mailbox, Custard Factory, Pavilions, Grand Central and The Great Western Arcade.

The Bullring  

The major shopping center in Birmingham is one of the biggest shopping centers in the UKs hosting a whopping 160 shops, over 25 restaurants (best places to eat in Birmingham) and a number of bars. The Bullring has everything a group of hens would need all under one roof. (Well two actually). While here with the ladies make sure to visit Selfridges, which is one of only four in the country and has a varity of brands ranging from Primark to Gucci.

Grand Central  

The newest multi million pound shopping center to open in Birmingham, formerly the Palisades, grand central is bulit around the newly refurbished New Street Train Station. The modern and impressive Grand Central host a number of shops, bars and restaurants all housed around a large John Lewis department store. It also has a walkway leading to the Bullring so you can ferry about to and from the two main shopping centres.  

As Grand Central sits nicely on top of New Street Train Station it's an ideal meeting point for the girls to shop or 


Make sure to visit Frizzenti a perfect place to make a quick stop for some glasses of champers or Prosecco with the bride.

The Pavilions is located just off the High street and is where you will find well known brands such as Marks and Spencer’s, La Senza, Hobbs and Waterstones. If you are feeling a little peckish why not head upstairs to the Food Loft and do a bit of people watching while eating lunch. 



Just 10 minutes’ walk from New Street Station is the newly refurbished canal side Mailbox. A classy and up market shopping centre where you will find 1 of only 5 Harvey Nicolas stores, Top brands like Hugo Boss and Armani and well know restaurants like Nando’s, Pizza Express and Miller and Carter.

The Mailbox is a perfect place to start a hen party night. It has some excellent restaurants and cocktail bars and its only Broad Street home to the best of Birmingham's night life. 


The Great Western Arcade

If you are a bit tired of all those modern shopping centres why not take the hens to The Great Western Arcade. Built in 1874 this Victoria marvel takes you back to the cities golden hay days. Most of the shops contained in this vintage building are independent boutiques and specialist stores such as The Pen Shop and Whiskey Shop.
